SpeechStep Professional Terms

1. Who these terms are between

These terms are between you (the individual professional who creates a SpeechStep Pro account) and [contracting entity — to be confirmed by counsel; SpeechStep is currently operated by Mendios Technologies Bangalore Pvt Ltd (WebMobi)] (“SpeechStep”, “we”, “us”). If you use SpeechStep Pro on behalf of a clinic or employer, [counsel to decide whether the clinic becomes a party, and how].

By ticking the attestation box when you create a Pro account, you accept the version of these terms shown to you at that time. We record that version (draft-2026-09-23 for this draft) and the time you accepted it.

2. Definitions

• Pro account — your SpeechStep account with a professional profile, giving access to the SpeechStep Pro screens.
• Family — the parent or guardian who holds a SpeechStep consumer account, and the child or teen whose practice it records.
• Connection — a link between your Pro account and a child, created when a family accepts your invitation or connects you from their account, and ended when either of you ends it.
• Shared data — the practice information a family has chosen to share with you through a Connection, limited to the scopes in section 5.
• Review — your own judgement on a practice recording (clear, keep practising, unsure, or not judged), with an optional note.
• Speech Snapshot — a structured written summary you publish to a family.

3. Eligibility and self-attestation

SpeechStep Pro is for qualified speech-language professionals — for example a speech-language pathologist, speech and language therapist or speech therapist — who hold the qualification and, where the law of the place they practise requires it, the registration or licence needed to practise there.

By creating a Pro account you confirm, and you continue to confirm while you use it, that:

• you are a qualified speech-language professional as described above;
• your qualification and any required registration or licence are current and not suspended, restricted or subject to conditions that would prevent the work you do through SpeechStep;
• the details in your profile (name, profession, country or region) are true and kept up to date;
• you are at least 18 years old and able to enter into these terms.

Self-attested and verified. Your attestation is enough to be connected by a family’s invitation and to invite your own clients. If you give registration details (for example an ASHA, HCPC, RCI or Speech Pathology Australia number), we may check them with the registering body. A verified registration is required before anything about you is shown publicly. Until verified, families see you described as “self-attested”. You must tell us promptly if your registration lapses, is suspended or becomes subject to conditions. 4. Your professional responsibility and independence

Your clinical judgement is yours. You decide, under your own professional standards and codes of conduct, whether SpeechStep suits a client, what to recommend, and what to set as a practice target. You are free to recommend other products or none. Nothing in these terms, and no payment under the Referral Partner Terms, requires or rewards any clinical decision.

SpeechStep is a practice tool, not a clinician. SpeechStep supports home practice between sessions. It does not assess, diagnose or treat, and it is not a replacement for therapy from a licensed speech-language professional. SpeechStep’s automatic results on recordings are an aid to your review, not a clinical finding; you remain responsible for any clinical conclusion you draw from them.

Your relationship with the family is your own. Any assessment, treatment, advice, fees or agreement between you and a family is between you and them. SpeechStep is not a party to it, does not employ or supervise you, and does not refer families to you. You are responsible for your own professional indemnity insurance, record-keeping and compliance with the rules of your profession and the places you practise. Your review and the automatic result. When you review a recording, SpeechStep keeps both its own automatic result and your review; neither replaces the other. The family is shown one result: yours, labelled as reviewed by you, where you gave a clear or keep-practising judgement. You agree to review only recordings you have listened to, and to use “not judged” when you have not.

5. Family consent and data access

You can see a child’s practice only while a Connection is active, and only within the scopes the family chose. The family can change or withdraw them at any time, and your access changes immediately.

You agree that you will:

• access shared data only to support that child’s speech practice and your professional work with the family;
• not attempt to access any child or family you are not connected to, or data outside the scopes granted;
• not ask a family to widen what they share more than reasonably necessary, and not make your work with them conditional on sharing recordings;
• respect a family’s decision to end a Connection or withdraw a scope. When a Connection ends, your reviews stop being shown to the family, but they remain in SpeechStep’s records as described in our Privacy Policy.

Share links. A family may send you a read-only link that works without an account. Treat it as confidential, do not forward it, and set up a Pro account to do anything more than look.

6. Confidentiality and data protection

Shared data is personal information about a child and their family, including voice recordings. You must keep it confidential and secure, use it only as these terms allow, and not disclose it to anyone except as your professional obligations or the law require.

• Copies outside SpeechStep. If you export or copy shared data (for example a CSV of review results) into your own clinical records, you are responsible for that copy under the laws and professional rules that apply to your records. [Counsel: define the controller/processor roles for exports.]
• Security. Keep your sign-in credentials private, do not share your account, and tell us without delay at support@webmobi.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
• Children’s data. Parents and guardians consent to SpeechStep’s processing for their child. You must not collect further personal information from a child through SpeechStep, or contact a child directly through it, other than through the features provided.

Legal frameworks — considerations for counsel, not conclusions. Depending on where the family and the professional are, the following may be relevant and are flagged for legal review: the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and state privacy and professional-records laws; whether any US health privacy law applies to a professional’s use of SpeechStep in their practice; the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, including the Age Appropriate Design Code; the EU GDPR where relevant; India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 and its rules on children’s data; and Australian privacy law. [Counsel: determine the roles of SpeechStep and the professional under each framework (controller, processor, independent controller or equivalent), and whether a data-processing agreement or business associate agreement is needed.] Nothing in this draft states that any framework applies or that SpeechStep or you comply with it.

7. Acceptable use

You agree to use SpeechStep Pro professionally, lawfully and in good faith. In particular you will:

• write plans, reviews, notes and Snapshots that are accurate, respectful and in plain language a family can understand;
• keep your notes within the structured fields provided, and not include another person’s personal information in them;
• use only the practice words SpeechStep offers for a child’s plan;
• tell a family, where your professional rules require it, about any financial interest you have in recommending SpeechStep.

8. Prohibited practices

You must not:

• misrepresent your identity, qualifications, registration or verification status;
• describe SpeechStep, its automatic results or your own reviews to a family in a way that is misleading — for example as a diagnosis, a guaranteed outcome or a substitute for therapy;
• pressure a family to subscribe, to choose a particular plan, or to share more data than they wish;
• use shared data to market other products or services to a family, or sell or pass it to anyone;
• create accounts for, or connect to, children you do not work with, or create fictitious families or activity;
• attempt to get around access controls, scrape the service, or interfere with its operation or security;
• use SpeechStep’s content, reference recordings or automatic results to build a competing product.

9. No guarantee of outcomes

SpeechStep does not promise any change in a child’s speech, any rate of progress, or that its automatic results agree with a professional’s judgement. The service is provided to support practice; results depend on many things outside our control. [Counsel: align with the consumer terms’ warranty disclaimer.]

10. Fees

A Pro account is free. SpeechStep does not charge you for connecting with families, setting plans, reviewing or writing Snapshots. If that changes, we will tell you in advance and you may close your account. Families pay SpeechStep directly for their own subscription; you do not collect payment for SpeechStep. Referral payments, if you opt in, are governed only by the Referral Partner Terms.

11. Our content and your content

SpeechStep, its software, word lists, reference recordings and automatic scoring remain ours. You keep ownership of what you write (plans, reviews, notes, Snapshots) and give us a licence to store, display and process it to operate the service for you and the family, and — only where the family has consented to it — to evaluate and improve SpeechStep’s automatic feedback. 12. Suspension and termination

• You may close your Pro account at any time. Your Connections end, and families keep their own accounts and data.
• We may suspend or close a Pro account, with notice where reasonably possible, if we reasonably believe you are not eligible, have breached these terms, pose a risk to a child or family, or if a regulator, registering body or law requires it. Where appropriate we will tell you why and how to respond.
• On suspension, your access to shared data stops immediately; families can keep practising.
• Sections 4, 6, 8, 11, 13 and 14 continue after termination.

13. Liability

[Limitation of liability — to be drafted by counsel. Points to address: exclusion of indirect and consequential loss; a cap on SpeechStep’s aggregate liability to a professional using a free account; carve-outs that cannot lawfully be limited (death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud); the professional’s responsibility for their own clinical decisions; and any indemnity by the professional for breach of sections 5, 6 and 8.]

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For a material change we will tell you by email and in SpeechStep Pro at least [30] days before it takes effect, and ask you to accept the new version; if you do not, you may close your account. Each version has an identifier (this draft: draft-2026-09-23), and we record which version you accepted.
